Matthew began his funeral service career at the young age of fifteen. He proceeded to follow his dream of helping families through their most difficult times by attending mortuary school at Carl Sandburg College in Galesburg, Illinois. He studied under professors Tim Krause and Matthew Kendall, graduating with a degree in Mortuary Science. Matthew served as General Manager of Muzyka & Son Funeral Home in Chicago, Illinois for six years before purchasing Pagosa Springs Funeral Home & Cremation Service and relocating to Pagosa Springs, CO in 2012. In 2011 he was honored by the National Funeral Director's Association as one of the nations top 50 funeral directors under the age of 40.
Matthew has gone through extensive post graduate education, with a concentration in embalming and restorative art. He is confident with the great value in which viewing the deceased can possess. It is not for everyone, but those that do chose to have a public viewing, seldom regret it.

Matthew belongs to the Colorado Funeral Directors Association, National Funeral Directors Association, Cook County Funeral Director's Association, Illinois Funeral Directors Association. Matthew has formerly served the Town of Pagosa Springs, CO as an elected member of the Town & Tourism Committee.
In his very limited free time, he enjoys traveling, playing the drums, fishing, skiing, Chicago Cubs baseball, spending time with his son, Dylan and his two puggles, Mr. Bojangles and Winston.
