Martha Jane Brack, 85, passed away peacefully February 25, 2017 at PACE Senior Community Care Center in Montrose.   She was born February 22, 1932 in Divide, CO to Glenn and Barbara (Herrman) Garner.  She would spend her early years going to school and horseback riding to Woodland Park Schools.  Martha was a women’s basketball star and helped her class make enough money to enjoy the Senior Spring Break trip to Mexico.  In 1950,  she married Wayne K. Brack following er cousin introducing the two on a trip to Divide, CO.  They then moved to Leota, Kansas where there oldest son, Kenneth was born.  Soon after, the family moved to Olathe, CO in April of 1952 to what is still presently the family home. There her children Kenneth, Donna (Bob) Caswell, Vickie (Ron) Stede, and Gary (Roxie) were raised.  Another son, Randy, passed at one year of age.

Martha loved cooking big meals and having family and friends over to their home.  She was a devoted mother and often helped with Cub Scouts.  Wayne and Martha, along with Dorothy Krill, ran Devie Roller Rink until 1993 when it was sold.  It was undoubtedly their love of cattle and pets, as well as her many grandchildren that kept her youthful and alive with pleasure.

Martha worked side by side with Wayne, milking the family cow, doing the farming and running the tractor.

A funeral service will be held at Rose Memorial Parlour & Cremation Center on Friday March 3 at 11:00 a.m.  Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.  Interment will immediately follow at Valley Lawn Cemetery, one mile south of Montrose on US HWY 550.

The family would like to give the greatest “thanks” to the PACE program’s caring staff and Firstlight’s Home Care staff, also.  Thank you to all of Martha’s friends and neighbors for making her so happy and helping her lead such a long, rewarding life.
